Jewish Weddings

The Award Winning Choice as seen on the BBC2 series ‘A Very British Wedding’  have performed at many Jewish Weddings over the last few years.

“All our guests loved “The Choice”. Our guests want us to have another party just so we can have the band back. They really made the party atmosphere and we had a great time. So glad we booked them for our wedding.”

One of the first questions we usually get asked when being considered for a Jewish Wedding is“do you play any Israeli music” and the answer is YES!

As one of the leading Jewish Wedding bands in the UK we were invited to take part in the making of a major Documentary Series for BBC Television called ‘A Very British Wedding’ transmitted March 2013 on BBC2.
This observational series looks to explore the subject of weddings among different religions and cultures – our contribution was a performance at a Jewish Wedding. The show focused mainly on the traditional Israeli dance set rather than our modern party set but we were very pleased we were chosen for such a major documentary series.

The first video is the complete show, if you don’t want to watch it all (its very interesting) the following video is just the highlights of the band.

Some of the Israeli songs we perform at Jewish weddings are:

  • Havah Nagila
  • Tzena Tzena
  • Casatschok
  • Hevenu Shalom Aleichem
  • Choson Kale Mazeltov
  • Ush’avtem Mayim
  • Moschia
  • Simantov

We are also unique because as well as a considerable experience of Jewish Weddings and Events, we are also one of the most highly respected and established Corporate Party Bands in the country.

One of our recent Jewish Weddings was for Adam and Ruth at the fabulous Lowry Hotel, Manchester.

We had Acoustic Choice – (Guitar & Sax) playing through the reception followed by the 5 piece main band for the evening Simcha.
From the Israeli Dancing to our acclaimed party sets it was a night to remember!
Here is a lovely comment posted by Adam from our facebook page:

“Thank you to Russell and the Choice for playing at our Wedding, they were fantastic!
Everyone loved them – it really made the evening even more special to have such a talented band playing. In the lead up to the big day, Russell was a pleasure to deal with and fulfilled each of our requests! It was particularly special that the band took to learn the songs we wanted for our first and last songs. I can’t recommend them enough, they were brilliant! “

What size band?
Our uniquely adaptable band enables you to choose whatever best suits your own preference, budget and venue. We can augment from a 4 piece up to an 8 piece line-up – see line up page for more info.

The ‘Classic’ Choice line up (as heard on the demo) is a 4 piece consisting of:

  • Female vocalist
  • Male vocal/guitar
  • Keyboards/vocals
  • Drums

The Choice is one of the few 4 piece bands to boast two girls in their line up! This is made possible due to our Keyboard player Lucy being one of the highest trained musicians on the circuit today.

It is also worth pointing out that we have both male and female lead vocalists in this  ‘Classic’ line-up allowing us to perform a real variety of music where songs are sung in their most authentic way. [/tab]

You can add any of the following to the ‘Classic’ 4 piece line-up.  For the 5 piece option we usually add  Sax.

  • Saxophone
  • Trumpet
  • Percussion
  • Extra female vocalist.

The brass adds a distinctive flavour especially in the more traditional songs whilst our percussionist adds an extra dimension to the Choice sound.
